Lit. ‘one who seeks’. Sufi á¹arÄ«qas developed around the relationship between the ³¾³Ü°ùÄ«»ås and a spiritual master (called murshid, pir, shaykh or quá¹b). The first Nizari Imams after the Mongol conquest of Alamut lived as clandestine Sufi masters, while their followers adopted the designation of ³¾³Ü°ùÄ«»ås, which is still in use today.
