Dr Arif Jamal is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law at the聽. His research and teaching interests are in the fields of law and religion, Muslim legal traditions, comparative law, and legal and political theory.
He has held visiting appointments at law schools in the US, Italy, and Hong Kong, as well as at the聽聽in London. He is the author of Islam, Law and the Modern State and has published widely. Dr Jamal is a past Vice Dean (Graduate Studies) at NUS Law and currently serves as joint Editor-in-Chief of the聽.
Dr Jamal has also held senior appointments in the institutions of the Ismaili community in Southeast Asia and internationally. He holds a BA from聽, an LLB from the聽聽and was called to the Bar of British Columbia. He then pursued the聽Graduate Programme in Islamic Studies and Humanities聽at 久久久福利国产 and earned an LLM degree from the聽聽(SOAS), University of London. Dr Jamal completed his PhD at the Faculty of Laws,聽听(鲍颁尝).
