This is a Russian translation of Farhad Daftary, The Ism膩士墨l墨s: Their History and Doctrines (2nd edn).

Description from The Ism膩士墨l墨s
The Ism膩士墨l墨s represent the second largest Sh墨士墨 Muslim community after the Twelvers, and are today scattered throughout more than twenty-five countries in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and North America. The second edition of this authoritative book traces the history and doctrinal development of the Ism膩士墨l墨s from their origins in the formative period of Islam to the present day, a period of more than twelve centuries. It is the first comprehensive synthesis of the results of modern scholarship in Ism膩士墨l墨 studies and draws on numerous primary sources on the subject, including the Ism膩士墨l墨 manuscripts which have only recently become available. All the major phases of Ism膩士墨l墨 history are covered, including the pre-F膩峁璱mid period, the F膩峁璱mid 鈥榞olden age鈥, the 峁琣yyib墨-Musta士l墨 period and the history of the Niz膩r墨 Ism膩士墨l墨s of Persia and Syria before the Mongol invasions. The final part traces the history of the modern Ism膩士墨l墨s, particularly the socio-economic progress of the Niz膩r墨 communities. The new edition has been thoroughly revised and incorporates new material, an expanded bibliography and new illustrations. It will be invaluable reading for students of Islamic and Middle Eastern history.
